Here's a home in Brighton that wanted to expand their kitchen flooring into their dining room. We had to remove the old carpet and install new, unfinished solid hardwood flooring. The new, unfinished hardwood flooring had to be "laced in" to the existing hardwood flooring. Then to make everything look the same we had to sand down the finish on the existing hardwood floor to bare wood. Then we applied a warm gray stain on all of the flooring and 3 coats of a high quality oil base finish. This made the old and new hardwood flooring look the same. This process takes an expertise that not all hardwood flooring installers can pull off.
