Once we had sanded down the prefinished maple flooring we then sealed the hardwood flooring to maintain it's natural look and applied 3 coats of a high quality water based finish. Then we sanded down and refinished the existing oak hardwood treads on the stairs. We stained them black and applied 3 coats of an oil based finish. These steps don't look quite finished in the photos because the painter still needs to come in and paint the stair risers white so that the edges will be sharp and showing no over staining.
