So, for the upstairs bedroom, closet and hallway we installed a wide plank unfinished hardwood. Then we sanded it down and applied an ebony stain. The darker ebony stain was chosen to highlight the white trim and walls. As you can see the effect was stunning. We created the same effect with the back stair treads with a provincial stain color. We used provincial stain for the stairs to match the lower level of the home which already had other hardwood floors installed with the provincial color. Once the hardwood flooring and stair treads were installed and stained, we sanded everything down to create a smooth, flat surface then we applied 3 coats of a high quality floor finish. The Plymouth MI homeowner was very pleased with the outcome and so were we. It looked fabulous!
