expand and contract as the seasons come and go. Through the years the hardwood itself will slowly shrink in width. Now this process takes many many years to really show itself but if you look at any older homes that had hardwood flooring installed when it was built, you will always see small gaps throughout the flooring. As this was an older home the small gaps will be evident. This homeowner wanted a custom mixed stain so we mixed a dark walnut color stain with a classic gray colored stain to achieve his custom color. Then we applied a high quality oil base finish to round out the job. We think it came out great. What do you think?
