Farmington Hills Hardwood Floor Installation Project
Here we have a new, solid, prefinished hardwood floor that we installed in a Farmington Hills home. Solid hardwood must almost always be installed across the joist system in the home. Here the joists run right to left so the hardwood flooring itself must be installed up and down, across the joists. This adds stability and reinforces the whole flooring system itself. Solid flooring is normally nailed down or stapled down and must be installed over an approved substrate. Some approved substrates are: plywood and OSB. Particle board is not an approved substrate and should not be used under a solid hardwood flooring or engineered hardwood flooring. Particle board is rarely found as a base floor in Farmington Hills homes. There are some cities where builders used particle board to build whole tracts of housing but Farmington Hills is not one of those cities so that should not be a concern going forward.
